Eero Saarinen Tulip Table, Designed for Knoll Furniture
Part of his Pedestal Collection, the timeless Tulip Table was part of Eero Saarinen's final design range in 1958 before his death in 1961. The simple lines of the pedestal base eradicated the "slum of legs" that Saarinen believed plagued traditional furniture forms. Round in form, the grey veined white marble top sits on top of a white cast aluminum pedestal. Authenticated by Miller Knoll. Very good condition. H 29 1/2", D 54"
Eero Saarinen's iconic Tulip Table was designed to remove the "visual clutter plagueing interior spaces" with its simple pedestal base and smooth marble top. Designed at the request of Florence Knoll, the success of Saarinen's Pedestal Collection contributed to the establishment of Knoll during its formative years. Saarinen's graceful designs are as relevant today as they were when Knoll began production in 1956.
